How to check the engine for oil
With car parked on a flat surface, (the oil in the engine will be level). This will ensure the most accurate reading.
Check for the hood release latch within the vehicle cabin and pull the latch. Next release the hood latch and safely prop the hood open and find the dipstick (this is marked in a bright yellow color or may state “oil” on the handle).
Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean, this assures you will get an accurate reading.
Re-insert the Dipstick and make sure to not tip the dipstick upside down as it may alter the reading.
Most dipsticks have two marks on the end a Low(Min) and a High(Max) reading. If you find the oil level in-between these two marks you are set to go!
